About Asher House

The Balwadi school system is a developmental aid program created to offer education to the children of India's rural poor. Children starting from Pre-K grade levels through to Elementary are able to learn basic education in both Hindi and English. They are also provided a quality daily meal and life skills to help their families.

Our Mission

Our heart and mission is to make an impact in India by providing love, care, attention, education, and safety to every child — regardless of their background. To do so, we provide economic resources through fundraising to run multiple Balwadi schools in rural India. We are the sole supporters of each established school, financially providing for rent, utilities, teachers’ salaries, school supplies, kitchen equipment, nutritious lunches, books, uniforms, and more with the help of our donors.

Why India

Our team and many of our supporters have had the privilege to sit in local Balwadi schools and see the benefits and changes in the children's lives. As teachers and child advocates, our hearts were moved watching these children come to life within the walls of a Balwadi school setting. The problem was there wasn't enough of them to accommodate the growing number of slum children. Asher House was born out of the affection for these children and their need for access to education. Partnering with New Life Medical Education and Trust in India, we are able to have a local organization already fighting for child education despite their caste or financial status. We provide all financial support and oversight while also being able to employ local teachers and have Indian representation in charge of the day-to-day operations.
